Question:
I'm one year post op and have started loosing my hair again!

For about 6 weeks at month 3, I had the usual hair loss that just about everyone experiences. It was bad, but it grew back and I never thought about it again. Now, for the past 4 weeks I've been loosing my hair just as rapidly as before. I thought maybe it was a protein thing, but increasing my intake hasn't slowed it down at all. Has anyone else had this happen? I see my doc for my one year post-op visit this friday and I will ask him. It would just be comforting to know I'm not alone.    — Anna F. (posted on April 15, 2002)

Anna, When I started loosing my hair I started taking "hair, skin, & nails" formula by Fururebiotics, it stopped my hair loss in it's tracks. BUT, every year, when the weather starts warming up, I have always 'shed' my hair like a dog. This year has been a little different though, I'm not 'shedding'. I think it has to do with the "hair, skin, & nails" that I am still taking. You might give it a try, I know you couldn't pay me to stop taking them :) Good Luck!

I had the same problem. I lost a bit.. not a whole lot at the beginning of my surgery. Then it stopped. Then 13 months post it started again.... I chaulked it up to not eating enough protein. (the second time around) the first time I was very deligent about eating my protein. It has now stopped again. I am 17 months post. During this 'second' round; I know I wasnt getting enough protein; nor was I doing my vitamins like I should have. Blood tests showed low iron; after increasing iron. the hair thing stopped around the same time.. could not say if they were related or not... sorry
