Question:
I am one week post op Lap RNYand have have several questions.

I have done well, but I am having frequent yellow liquid bm's. I am taking in full liquids and struggling to get all the protein and fluid in. I am nauseous in the morning, but I have not vomited. Is this normal?    — Kathryn L. (posted on March 15, 2002)

Sounds fairly normal. BMs are going to be off color as you aren't really eating food yet. I used to get nauseous in the mornings too with my first taste of something. After a couple sips, it went away. I am almost 9 mos post and have never thrown up. You sound fine. Good luck and God Bless!

Kathryn, expect the morning nausea to last a while. I am 5 weeks out and still experience it but its a lesser level of nausea. I wake up each day with it-I sip water for a good hour before i get out of bed. I've found that after i eat my first meal, which I have to choke down, I feel better the rest of the day. The bm's are normal. I had those with cramps and abdominal pains for the first few weeks, then they normalized. Hang in there.

I am 4 weeks post and never have had any nausea. But the yellow loose stools yes. They lasted about 2 weeks and then became more normal.

I was having loose or inadequate stool, so I added Citrucel to my diet on a daily basis. No problem now! However, the lighter yellow color is still the same. Currently 5 weeks post-op here.

Well, I am pre-op so I don't know how much I can help. However, when my baby was newborn his stools were that yucky lellow-ish color. But the more he grew the better they got. I have kind of tried to compare what I will be experiencing with what I learned when I was a new mother. Babies can only eat so much at a time or they spit-up. Babies can not handle solid foods until their little systems develop more. We do not introduce foods to a baby until their bodies can handle it. Also, I discovered that I was over feeding my baby. Now, when he says, I do't want more. I listen! I also watch how much he eats. I figure that is probably the size my stomach will be in the end (he is two now).

I am 7 days out - no pain, nausa or any discomfort. My doctor prscibed pepsid twice a day for the first month. I ate oatmeal - five teaspoons this morning and still feel full and good 3 hours later.
