Question:
At one week post-op, how long should it take me to finish my meals?
I'm on pureed foods and sometimes I can eat more or faster than other times. How am I to know how slowly I should be eating so I do not get sick? I would also like to know how I can get all my protein down? — kyle S. (posted on March 6, 2002)

When I was a new post-op, I watched the clock and waited 2 minutes between
bites. I really did that when I moved on to solid food. I've only had
several uncomfortable moments in eight months. Go slowly, chew well and
you'll do fine. My doctor wanted our meals over in about 20 or 30 minutes.
I've read where a post-op said he/she could eat a whole sub sandwich. It
would take them 3 or 4 hours to do it. I just eat until satisfied and stop.
I don't munch on something all afternoon. That sounds like grazing. Good
luck and happy losing!!
