Question:
Has anyone tried the proteinex? How is it?

I am pre-op and ordered a free sample a few weeks ago because I am trying
different protein products. You're suppose to take 2 tablespoons. This
provides you with 60 calories, 15 grams of protein, and 4 grams of sodium.
It is like a syrup and it takes like citrus. I took as directed and 30
minutes later I was extremely sick to my stomach. I had to take Pepto
Bismol to get over the sickness... and I'm pre-op!!! So.. how will affect
a post op? Hmmm.. dunno.

It is gross!!! I tried it with water and ice like the instructions and I
couldn't get past the smell. I haven't tried it mixed in with anything but
I have heard of people mixing it with citrus flavored drinks.

There may be two different types of Proteinex. My instructions did not
state anything about ice or mixing. You are suppose to take 2 tablespoons
right out of the bottle. The product smelled good, like a sweet citrus and
it tasted like citrus. It just didn't hit the tummy good.

Marybeth, I tried the sample I had ordered this past Sat. and I didn't
think it was all that bad. I had an open VBG 12/11/01. I have tried several
different types of predigested proteins and nearly all of them made me want
to puke. Don't get me wrong, it is by no means delicious but I was able to
take the suggested two Tbs. with no problems. I just sort of held my nose
and swallowed it down. It was OK enough that I have ordered a bottle of it.
They will send you a sample and let you try it, I would suggest doing that.
All of us have different tastes and opinions, that's mine for today!

I got a free sample this weekend. I tried it Saturday and it went down just
fine. It smells like oranges and tastes like oranges too. It's not as thick
as some of the other syrups out there, like Cheramino. I thought it was
great and will be sending for a bottle today.

I tried a free sample too. I agree it isn't delicious, but it is tolerable
in small doses. I ordered a bottle because I HAVE to get in more protein,
and can't tolerate the shakes I think it is great to have an alternative,
even if it isn't delicious. I plan on mixing it with a little oj. It is
(sorta) orange flavored, and should mix right in.

Where can you get Proteinex?

I am a big proteinex fan. I take 2 tlbs 4 times a day =60 grams of protein.
It does not have the best taste...but I does not make me gag and I dont
have to struggle getting down several protein shakes for a similar protein
benefit.
I just stand at the sink with my little tablespoon and swallow 2
tablespoons at a time just like you would cough medicine. It goes down just
fine and doesnt have a lingering aftertaste. I was only in the hospital one
day after LAP RNY and have been taking it ever since and feel fantastic. I
don't plan to use it forever, but especially early post op or to fill in if
you are not getting enough protein...it answers that need well for me. Of
course everyones taste is so individual, But what do you have to lose with
a free sample.
You can get that sample and other info here.

Tried their sample and it tasted like a sour cough syrup but it went down
fast and easy. A few goosebumps was the worst:) That's what I wanted - a
quick protein supplement! It could only be better if it were in pill form!
And I'm sure we'll get there. In the mean time I tried a great tasting
protein bar! EAS cookies and creme. It has NO chalky taste! It doesn't
taste like an Oreo but it's good! And 20 grams of protein!
