Question:
A group of us are starting a support group, where do we begin?
We live in central WV. Closest support group is 2 hours away. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The local hospital has agreed to help us, and provide meeting space. Thanks. BTW My surgery is this Friday!!!!!! — Kathryn L. (posted on February 18, 2002)

You've made a good start in getting the hospital to let you use a room.
You can post all the information here. Also you could put flyers up at the
hospital and at your doctor's office. Don't know how big a community you
live in, but you also might be able to get something listed in the
newspaper. My weekly local has a column just devoted to various meetings
and self-help groups. Good luck!

OBESITYHELP.COM at work once again! this site is so awesome isnt it??? i
went to my state & clicked on all the profiles of the people i wanted
to contact. i was looking for a specific genre. i then listed all the email
addys of everyone i chose & sent a mass email asking them if they would
be interested in support group & i explained the purpose of my
specifics. well, i have to tell u that the support group is off the ground
& with the awesome help of some that i contacted, its a success. i can
see membership growing by leaps & bounds. good luck!
