Question:
I have Cigna HMO-Texas and want to use Bariatric Treatment Center in Wylie
What are my chances Cigna HMO will cover me to go there. My doctor put in "The Letter" that I wanted to go there. I didn't see any Cigna HMO insurees going there. — Amy G. (posted on January 30, 2002)

Hi! I had to get pre-approval to use cigna...they would not pay w/Wylie,
but I went to Dr. David Ritter in Rockwall. Very Nice, and Cigna paid for
the "visit". Unfortunately. I work for Dallas ISD, and our
policy specifically states that they will NOT cover the treatment of
obesity. I am on my third appeal...loaded with all of the
requirements...they keep making up new crap. I guess that my next step
will have to be w/ legal advisor...thus far, it has takn a year. Good
luck, Mary

I don't have your same insurance, but I did have my surgery at BTC in
Wylie... BTC isn't on any insurance network...so, at best, you will only
receive out-of-network benefits. For me, this meant a total of $500 out of
pocket...but it can be a LOT more depending on your policy. I would really
read the fine print on your policy if you're considering going to BTC...my
total charges were close to $70K.
