Question:
I have pain in my pubic/groin area?
It hurt a while ago, and then stopped. I woke up this morning and can barely walk, can't really lift, sitting only causes minimal pain. Then hours later, the pain has diminished. My husband seems to think this could be a hernia. Does it sound like that to anyone. Thanks for your insight on this :) — Andrea M. (posted on January 26, 2002)

You know, when I had that I found that my pelvic bone had
"slipped" out of it's socket. It has happened twice. First time
- 12 weeks of Physical Therapy. Second time chiropracter - 1 time. Good
as new. Mine caused by excessive weight, aging and possibly arthritis.
Have a doc take an x-ray. Good luck!

I had something similar to this about 10 days post-op and then again at
about 5 weeks post-op. The pain was so intense that I had to use a walker
to get around. However, it didn't go away on it's own. The first time my
surgeon put me on Celebrex for 10 days - it took about four days for the
pain to subside enough for me to be able to walk up and down the stairs. I
discovered that the recliner I was using was the culprit (I think). It was
a rocker/recliner and when I would try to get up, it would rock forward
until the bottom of the front of the chair touched the floor, making it
very low. We put phone books under the front sides of the chair so it
couldn't rock forward and it helped immensley.
I think the second episode happened when I was helping my son make my
king-sized bed. We were trying to get the mattress pad on (it's very
tight) and the next morning the pain was back and got progressively worse
throughout the day until my boss nagged me into calling my surgeon. Again,
he prescribed Celebrex (this time I only had to take it for three days). I
do believe that the problem is a pulled and inflammed groin muscle.
Don't know if this is your problem, but I know it scared me to death when
it happened. That has been the only problems I have had recovering from
surgery. I am 8 weeks post-op - Open RNY.
Hope you feel better soon.
