I personally swear by GNCs Hair and Nail vitamins. I started losing hair
early at about 2.5 months post-op. I immediately started taking these
vitamins and a few months later I started seeing baby hair growth. My hair
is now growing back in nicely. It may have done it anyways, but I think
they helped! They are big green pills though and smell like rabbit food.
*grin* So...if you have problems swallowing big pills just be aware! Best
wishes!

Hi, at 3 months post op I started losing hair by the handfulls! I started
to take two kinds of pills, Biotin (which I bought at GNC) and Zinc. I had
heard that the combination was supposed to help, and after taking the two
together for a month, my hair started to grow back. I am now 6 & 1/2
months post op and I still take them.I still see new growth all the time
and my hair looks great. I am so glad I was able to stop that hair loss in
it's tracks!

I am really worried about this because
I already have a lot of hair loss on
top. I don't know if it's a heredity
thing, or from all the medications I
take, vitamin deficiency, or what. I
think I'll get some of those GNC hair
vitamins. My surgery is scheduled for
December 27. I'll do fine with a big
pill for now, but will I be able to
digest and absorb it after surgery?

Hi. I had open RNY on Oct. 2. I've lost 65 lbs and have had no hair loss
yet. The doctor told me it was still early for me. He also told me to
start eating salads with a tablespoon of safflower oil three times a
week--that it is supposed to prevent the hair loss by giving you those
fatty acids. So I mix vinegar and a table spoon of safflower oil and made
a small salad. I don't know if it works yet, but I am hoping. Good luck!
