Regardless of whether or not this is required by your surgeon, you should
consider getting it done. I was very relieved to find out I was
"highly functioning" and a "good candidate for
surgery." My psychologist also said I had "reasonable
expectations" and was "emotionally stable." These are good
things to know about yourself before you undertake what could be the most
difficult and life-changing journey of your life. Best of luck--

I too was a self-pay and I had to pay for all the necessary tests my Dr
required. The bloodwork my insurance paid for but not the Physical tehrapy
or the Psych exam.

I wan't self pay, but my insurance did not cover the psych. eval. It cost
me 300.00 for the one time session. My dr. required this so I had no
choice. So even if you are self pay, if your dr. requires this you will
probably have to have this done.
