Question:
Can people share with me about their hospital stays and surgery?
ANYTHING I NEED SPECIAL AT HOSP. OR ANYTHING SPECIAL I SHOULD KNOW? OR JUST GIVE ME YOUR OPINION ON THE WHOLE MATTER? — [Anonymous] (posted on November 6, 2001)

If you'd like, you can read my profile. After I got home from my Oct 9
surgery, I sat down and wrote out a very long account of my hospital stay
and my experiences. Just click on my name. Best of luck to you!

Everything I was told to take to the Hospital...(ie. personal fan, reading
material, etc etc) was never even removed from my bag. I found it totally
unnecessary. My best advice is walk walk walk. My nurses never came in to
"tell" me to walk, I made it a point to walk the floor each time
I got up to use the restroom. I did so well that my surgeon let me go home
the very next day. I had my surgery Tuesday and went home Wednesday. It is
all up to you.....do as much for yourself as you can!! Keep your spirits
up!! Good luck!!

I took very little, a toothbrush and paste, hairbrush, robe. That's about
it. I closed my eyes and dozed as much as possible knowing I would get less
rest at home with my big family. I walked a lot, did the little breathy
thingy, walked some more and went home as soon as possible. The more stuff
you take the more you have to worry about. Just get up and around as much
as you can. I am thrilled with my surgery and hope you will be too.

I have a long account of my hospital stay in this page of my profile. Bring
very little... you won't need it. I used a toothbrush, toothpaste, and
cottonelle wipes that I brought from home, and that was it. Oh yeah, and my
pillow. Forget the rest! :-)
