Question:
What do you guys eat?
I'm 5 weeks post op, down 39 lbs and I was just wondering...what did you other post ops eat at 5 weeks? I've been experimenting, and throwing up a lot. I'm not sure if I'm eating too much or just pushing myself and trying things I shouldn't be eating yet. Actually....because of this, I'm not really eating too much at all. And worried about that too. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! — Robin O. (posted on October 11, 2001)

Make sure you are not eating to fast. Put a clock in the kitchen/dinning
room with you and make sure your meal last 20 to 30 minutes. Also weigh and
measure your food to make sure your not eating to much. Good Luck

I ate soft ,mushy , wet things. Like bean soup ,mashed beans, not whole.
Cottage cheese , refried beans&cheese. Even regular cooked chicken
mixed with some broth and blended , not real smooth. Cheese omlette with
one egg ,1 slice of cheese. Stuff like that. Eat slow and chew well even if
it is cottage cheese. I was told chew each mouthful 25 times. Digestion
begins in the mouth. Even if 25 is too much you will get the feel of it.

I'm at five weeks too. I haven't had a problem with anything I've tried,
and that includes beef, chicken, tuna, vegetables and pasta. Before
swallowing, I chew each bite very carefully until it's liquified. Then I
try to wait a minute or two before putting another bite in my mouth. Good
luck finding your stride.

While I agree with what has been posted, I think that you need to know that
your experiencing what others have gone through as well and that "this
too shall pass". I felt I was eating the types of foods recommended
here from week 4-about week 12 and went through the throwing up like you
are and wondering about whether I was eating enough. I personally really
have felt a big change as of the third month (I am one week shy of 4 months
now). I have not thrown up in at least 3 weeks and the last few times I did
it was only the foamy stuff really. I do really believe in and feel good
about taking the protein supplements in order to insure that I get in my
protein because I have and cannot eat the right amount from food sources.
Email me if you would like! Good luck and congrats on your weight loss.
