Question:
Is successful Lap distal RNY possible with BMI over 60?
Is it possible for a surgeon to perform a distal RNY Laporoscopically on a patient with a BMI of 64? I have heard of sugeons trying to do a Lap and then having to make an incision anyway. — roseann A. (posted on August 24, 2001)

I was told by two different doctors that if you are going to have lap
surgery you can only have proximal. Proximals have less intestines taken
out than a distal. Hope that helps.
