Question:
Can anyone suggest Quick Lowfat Breakfast Ideas?
I am 9mos post-op and getting bored with what I am eating. Breakfast is my hardest meal to figure out what to eat thats high in protein and low in fat and quick to make before going to work. I can eat anything, so please put your thinking caps on, all suggestions are appreciated, thank you. S. — Sena P. (posted on July 14, 2001)

I always start the morning with a protein drink made with a half of banana
, peel and freeze the other half(in plastic wrap) use the other half in
another protein drink for a smoother and creamier version.I usually fry and
egg (or use egg beaters) the night before,(so I don't eat and drink at the
same time) put it on a cut(in half) slice of lo cal bread, with 2% cheese.
I eat this either in work or on the way. You could also have cottage
cheese, it comes in those little individual containers. The pre cooked
bacon microwave for a few seconds , practically all protein and little
fat.Breakfast buritos. Good luck and congratulations on your weight loss.

How about scrambled or fried eggs with a little bit of melted cheese. I
also heard that Pepperige Farms is making a wondeful bread with 8 grams of
protien per slice. Cottage cheese is always a quick fix for me, I like mine
with tomatoes, peaches, or pinapple. I also have boiled eggs in my
refrigerator when I need some quick, on the go protien, and some string
cheese.

I would suggest scrambled eggs made with egg beaters, shreded cheese and
maybe some ham. I buy slices of ham and cut them into small pieces and keep
them a plastic bag. Then when I want scrambled eggs with ham & cheese I
get out my bag of ham and shredded cheese I buy at the store and have a
quick breakfast. Another favorite of mine is peanut butter toast or toasted
frech bread with melted cheese on it. I'm always looking in the frozen food
section for different ideas and have found breakfast pizzas (it has too
much bread for me so I eat mostly the toppling) and breakfast burritos.
Breakfast is an easy meal to get into a rut with that's for sure.

Breakfast is so hard, everything is sweet or fried. I have devised my own
favorite, I hope you like.
In a blender I mix 1 cup mocha flavored soy milk (Silk brand is my favorite
only 130 calories), 1 or two cups of ice, a Carnation instant breakfast
(chocolate flavor) and sometimes a banana. I mix it all up into a think,
cold smoothie and enjoy. It takes a while to eat since it is so cold, so I
feel like I got to eat a lot which helps with head hunger. I really
(honest) prefer it to almost any other breakfast and it is not expensive to
have everyday.
Enjoy!

Think of breakfast as another meal. I've enjoyed, cream of wheat, tuna on
crackers, crackers and cheese, hummus and crackers to name a few.
Scrambled eggs are great if you have the time. I also take farmers cheese
and melt it under the broiler and put on crackers to eat. All high in
protein. Enjoy...

I like Dannon Lite N Lively yogurt. I like to grind up a calcium citrate
in my coffee grinder and dump it into the yogurt, add one coffee bean to
vanilla yogurt and it is yummy, or sprinkle in some pumpkin pie spice.
MMMmmmm good! Get some real meaty, high quality bacon, fried crisp. Half a
sourdough bagel, toast it a bit them add cheese and melt that, its good
too. I like those individual packets of flavored oatmeal- oatmeal is good
for you. They have individual packets of cheese grits too, if you are
adventurous. Seven grain bread toasted with peanut butter is good for
breakfast. Mixed nuts and cheese sticks are good too for a breakfast on
the run. Oh, mix the vanilla dannon lite n lively yogurt with your favorite
dry cereal for a change. Cottage cheese and canned in juice fruit is good,
I put pumpkin pie spice on that too - peaches are my favorite or a fancy
mixed fruit cocktail. Make your own sugar free chocolate pudding makes an
ok breakfast for a change. Make some diabetic-style cookie/trail bars with
fruit juice for sweetener. I don't have a recipe handy, but you can search
for diabetic items on the internet and find loads of recipes. Breakfast
burrito with scrambled egg, cheese and picante sauce is good. Shake on
some chili powder or something even hotter if you like.

breakfast is a hard thing for me bc pre-op i never used to eat it, but now
i have to!!! i usually have yogurt, or even a carnation instant breakfast,
which is of course sugar free, with skim milk, non-fat dry milk powder, and
some ice cubes. 8oz is 21 grams of protein and it is fat free! email if
you'd like the recipe

During the week, I'm a cottage cheese, CarbSolutions protien bar (those
things are really good, but have a little more fat - 9 gms - than most) and
beef jerkey kinda gal. On the weekends, I usually have eggs and cheese or
a protien smoothie.

My favorite breakfast is a boiled with 5 saltines and some
strawberries on the side. I also like saltines with a some
peanut butter (about 2 tbs.) and some fruit for breakfast.
