Question:
*7 Days Post-op* any idea of things I might eat
I was wondering if anyone had any idea of things I might eat, I have to stay on a liquid/semi liquid/pureed diet. I really want to stay with things High in protein , since I hate the drinks, but am trying to get em down. I usually eat...Breakfast 1/2 cup of Cream of wheat, 1/4 cup applesauce...Lunch 1/2 cup of Soup 1/4 cup of Jello with whip topong. and Dinner...1/2 cup of mashed potatoe with gravy, and maybe some mashed fruit, or yogurt. I know Im not getting enough protein in, but trying to at least drink 10 oz of it, which it only contains 17grams. Anyway If anyone has any ideas on things to eat, other then what I mentioned, I would appreciate it. I know I can do the next 3 weeks just eating what I have been, but Its already getting bland, and Id like more of a variety, and more nutrion. Thanks...:)_ P.S I drink 2-8oz of skim milk a day too, so Milk is not a prolem... — Ann A. (posted on June 18, 2001)

Hello---- I have an idea that other people have mentioned, tuna and cottage
cheese ...both high in protien... put the tuna in a blender and u could
mix both together! Look around for high protien soups.... I can order them
threw my dietition, call around, Another idea if you dont like the taste of
the protien drinks, call GNC and ask for a tasteless kind, I forgot the
name of it but there is tasteless brands so u can mix it in with all your
soups and jello and yogerts... try it
good luck

One of my favorite things early post op (and continues today) is egg salad.
I have a mini food processor and chop up the eggs first and add a little
light Miracle Whip. Early on I gound them really fine and mixed it more so
it was a puree. Now I chop the eggs into bigger chunks and then add the MW.
It's so easy! I know there are some folks who can't tolerate eggs, but if
you can it's a great way to get your protein.

Have you tried mixing nonfat dry milk in your cereal, pudding or mashed
potatoes? I found this helped me get in some extra protein. I also used
baby food. I stayed at no more than 800 calories and tried for 60 grams of
protein. Good luck.

I am not a fan of the protein either, however I found a way to mix it that
is pretty good. I have the strawberry flavored protein from Max Muscle. I
mix my scoop with part 1% milk and part Light and Lively strawberry
drinkable yogurt. It is a good way to get your liquid and protein at the
same time and it does not gag me going down!!!
