Question:
can RNY be done on somebody that has had cancer.
My mother-in-law would like to have RNY done. She is 49 and would like to lose about 100 pounds. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 1/2 years ago, had surgery to remove her spleen and 3/4 of her pancreas, she has had her gull bladder, appendix and a histerectomy. (forgive the spelling please.) She is now said to have no cancer. She has, however, become diabetic and has high blood pressure. Has anybody had anything near the same and could you send her advise at this address and I will relay it to her. Thank you for the info. and thank you for this wonderful tool for us to use. — Heather A. (posted on August 11, 1999)

Your mother-in-law should not havr RNY, because she had pancreatic cancer.
Although it is 3 years since her surgery for pancreatic cancer, but
recurrance is still a big concern.
