Question:
Has anyone heard of or tryied the Gastric Bypass Pill?

Hi Everyone, I was scheduled to have surgery on June 1st, however, because of insurance problems it has been cancelled Friday. I was searching for an alternative place to have my surgery if I need to be a selfpay, for my hospital will charge approximately 28 to 30 thousand plus 5,000 for the Doctor. I was expecting 23,000 to 25,000 total, and so the extra 10,000 has made it impossible for me to have it here. In my searching, I found this Gastric Bypass Pill called Zetacap, by selmedica. Here is what they sent me after I ordered a bottle just to try: How it works Zetacap has a patented formula that is 100% all natural and safe. Zetacap works the same way as gastric bypass surgery, but instead of blocking the stomach with a staple, it fills the stomach with a natural balloon that makes it virtually impossible to eat! You'll feel full all the time. You just can't eat! Unlike other weight loss products, Zetacap works fast and is fully effective in just minutes. Most people see reach their weight loss goals in as little as 30 to 45 days, and most accomplish their goal size in less than 90 days. There is no need for continued use to maintain your size. You will finally have the weight that you have always wanted. Directions for use To reach optimal results with Zetacap take one to two pills 30 minutes before each meal with an 8 oz glass of water. It is recommended that one consume a minimum of 1200 calories per day. If this amount is impossible due to loss of appetite, reduce dosage or discontinue use. Due to the limited amount of food you will be able to consume we strongly recommend that you eat a high amount of protein and reduce the amount of sugar and refined carbohydrates that you intake. My question, Has anyone tried it, did it work? Sure would be alot less expensive then surgery. lol.... Any thoughts on the matter would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.. Thanks so much for all the support EVERYONE has provided me. Even though your posts are to help one individual, they help hundreds more... Very Sincerely,    — steph40928 (posted on May 31, 2004)

A couple thoughts... First, most of us here have a lot of weight to lose. It seems virtually impossible to reach "optimum size or weight" in 45-90 days (someone define "optimum".) That's only 3 months!! Probably the people that tested this had a much lesser amount to lose. It says that there is no need to continue for maintenance. Well, how are you going to control the volume you eat after you stop taking them? With surgery, your stomach is made smaller for life, which makes it easier to control the volume you eat. Also, the surgery has the much needed malabsorption factor to help with loss and somewhat with maintenance. It seems to me that they are another gimick trying to play on people's needs and emotions. ( I also like how they subtly imply that you really need to eat at least 1200 cal, and how that might be impossible. If it happens just decrease the dosage) Again, a gimick and a tactic to make you believe something that's just not going to happen. I know, I've been there too! Please save your money. I hope things open up so you can have the surgery if that's what you want. Good luck! Shelley

my question is do you sell this stuff yourself? sounds like an advertisement..... even 100% natural can be VERY dangerous. this type of product has been around a very long time just under a different name. if it truely worked they would be selling it for thousands of dollars and you would be hearing about it on every news show in the world. you wrote that people reach there goal in 30 to 45 days. even with wls a doctor can't tell you how soon you will reach goal. my advice is NOT to take this "magic" pill. if you want to feel full and not eat so much and you haven't had wls, is to just drink 8oz. of water right before you start to eat. we have all be desprate to lose weight and WANT to believe that there is some magic way to do it, but there isn't. even having wls isn't magic. for most the weight comes off quickly, but without dealing with and understanding how and why you became MO in the first place you will never get a handle on your weight.

Beware of "natural" or herbal products. They are not regulated by the goverment and can be deadly. After being on the market, causing death to people, Ephedra is finally removed. Keep in mind some of the deadly street drugs are "natural" also. Just an FYI.

There is a post about this same thing on Spotlight. Just keep in mind if it is too good to be true then it isn't true or what they claim it can be. Please do not use it because it probably has not been ok's by the FDA as safe. Please do your research for WLS or try safer methods for weight loss, your health is so important, you could ruin it with something like this Zetacap.

Yes, I tried Zetacap the stomach blocker. I used it for three weeks and all I acomplished was many more bowell movements that usual due to the bulk. I did not lose any weight. Finally I mixed two caplets with a glass of water and it did not even thicken the water. I gave it over an hour to see if the water thickened. I expected it to form some kind of gel (hence the bubble) but after an hour I gave up and shortly after threw them out. Sorry, I know how bad you want to find something, anything that may actually work this time.

If you look around even inside the US you will find doctor who do the RNY within your budget and some have price caps to help protect you from unexpected expenses. RNY in Mexico is like 8K total or if you've thought about the DS Brazil or Spain have great doctors at 10-11K for Brazil and about 15K for Spain. With a budget of 25K you should have no problem with options. Good luck!

Hey, this is basically the same concept as TrimSpa or Fiber Weigh and it's just another way to suck money from folks like us. My hospital does the Gastric Bypass for $16,750.00 and that includes EVERYTHING - even the doctor. We've done over 1600 cases. If I can help you just let me know. I wish there was a magic pill - but unfortunately manufacturers are just dangling rotten carrots in front of us again! Best wishes to you!
