Question:
Unusual place for rashes
I am 7 weeks post op and have developed really bad heat rash type irritations under my breasts. Anybody have suggestions for treatment on this, I've tried powders and neosporin, no luck so far? — Lori A. (posted on April 2, 2004)

I have never had this problem but some here have recommended cornstarch to
keep the area dry so the rash will go away. I myself have always used Gold
Bond powder for any kind of skin irritation and it always works like a
charm for me. Hope this helps and you get relief soon! :)

I have bad rashes under my breast and quite a few other places. My pcp
prescribed a nitrate cream and I apply it daily, I do not know how large
your breast are, mine are a F cup, and hang really bad, I put Gold Bond
powder on at night and a folded in half kotex pad under each breast, and
that is the only way for me to get any relief. I see a plastic surgeon on
April 15th, to start my reconstructive surgery for a breast reduction/lift,
arms, abdominoplasty, inner thighs and a neck lift, but not all at the same
time. Document all of your rashes, take pictures of the rashes, and get
this documented in your medical record.

I get that type of rash in the warm weather-it can affect under the
breasts, armpits, panni, and where your thighs meets your groin. My doctor
told me to buy Lotrimin or that type of cream because it is actually a
fungal thing going on. It sure helps. Gold Bond powder also helps keep it
dry. You can use both at the same time.

Everyone has said to use an anti-fungal cream and that worked great for me.
My derma told me never to use powder or corn starch, as it feeds the yeast.
I never tried Gold Bond. The only thing I'd add is to wash and dry before
each application of the anti-fungal. These are yeast, and they have to be
washed off, the area made inhospitable (dry) and then put up a barrier
(anti-fungal). I did it 3X a day for a few days, then 2X a day and then
daily until my plastics

Hi,
Lol, this is for real. Diaper rash ointments work! LM

I had the same problem below my breasts about 4 days after being post-op
because I left the "girls loose" LOL because my bra kept
bothering me. The moisture is what made the rash appear. I've found that
drying well after the shower and then applying solid anti-perspirant
deodorant has prevented this from re-occuring.

I had this happen last summer and my doc had me get an anti-fungal cream
(like for athlete's foot) and desitin cream and mix them together. It
really helped. Since then I've had no problems because that is one place
that I now use my deodorant. :)

You should contact your primary doctor for some Mycolog cream/ointment. it
works really well. You need to keep using it even a while after it seems
like the rash is gone. Otherwise it will come back. Good luck.

I've had similar problems, even pre-op under my belly apron. I've always
found that Gold Bond Powder was not only helpful but a relief. To avoid,
we're supposed to keep those hanging areas dry, but you can also use the
Gold Bond as a preventative measure. Good Luck!

I have used Vasagil powder and cream. The cream works great for the rash
itself and then the powder when there is no rash. I use both and they work
great.

there is a powder you can by at the pharmacy, it's behind the counter, but
you do not need a perscription for it. It's called Zeasorb and it really
helps alot

Be sure to dry very well after showering/bathing. I use my blow dryer. I
also splash with baby oil in the problem areas while rinsing in the shower.
When the rash is present I use Lotrimin cream and it goes away quickly.
If you are considering plastic surgery ( breast lift) someplace down the
road, you may want to take pictures of the rash and have you doctor
document the problem.
