Question:
I'm looking for anyone that started @ 5'3 and 296lbs 4 month's out.
I had surgery 09-17-03, I started at 296lbs and I weigh 216lbs now, does this seem right. I'm just curious about other's like me. I still can't eat very much at all, about 1/2 cup, sometimes not that if it's meat. Also, has anyone tried diet soda this early out, how did you tolerate it? Please keep in mind I'm 5'3. Cheryl,
I am 5'2 and started out at 257 and had surgery on 8-4-03 and I am down 90
pounds. You sound like you are doing great! You have lost 80 pounds
already. Remember to do some exercise. Are you drinking protein drinks, and
how much water a day? It will come off, stick to the rules. Just think,
have you ever been able to lose that much in that amount of time before? I
think your right on track.

Cheryl, I don't know if you'll want my input because I am taller
(5'9") and started heavier than you (320), but I had surgery one day
after you. So, as far as being four months out, I'm right there with you.
I think your weight loss is awesome. I started at 320 and weigh 273 now.
I can't eat very much, either, but I am definitely noticing that I am
starting to be able to eat a little more. I tried diet soda for the first
time about two weeks ago and since then have had about a half a can every
other day. I tolerate quite well, but you'll notice that you can't drink
it the way you used to. I just sip on mine and it takes me hours to drink
a half a can. Oh, but the taste - heavenly. It's the only thing I've
missed since surgery. Good luck and keep up the amazing work!!! Hugs,

Hey! I started out at 304 at 5'4 (really probably 5'3, but I need that
inch, lol). At four months post op, I had lost about 80 lbs. I am now one
year post op and I have lost 162 pounds, wearing a size 8/9. You are doing
GREAT. Keep it up.

Hi Cheryl- I'm 5'3" and started at 316. At 4 months post I lost 72.5
pounds. You're doing great! Keep up with the rules and you'll do fine.
About your soda question, I don't know. I personally don't like soda and
haven't had it in years.

I had my surgery 09/05/03. I am 5'3" and I weighed 298. As of
yesterday, my five month anniversary, I weighed 208. So it sounds like we
are on the same track, although I know that all people lose at different
speeds. I have found that I can eat more of certain foods, like cheese and
popcorn (I know it has carbs and all, but I actually lose more when I have
a snack at night) I never liked diet soda so I haven't tried it. I have
had the occasional sip of regular soda, it doesn't bother me really except
for the time I took a gulp, I don't think my new tummy liked all those
fizzies. My doc said if we must drink diet soda, to let it go flat. Me I
stick to Kool-Aid made with splenda (that stuff is great!!) Congrats on
your loss and keep up the great work!

congratulations! That's a great weight loss. I started out 5'2 and 294
pounds so i'm very similiar to you. im 10 months out and down to 175
pounds. 100 pounds came off quickly but it has slowed down quite a bit
since. I think your body just needs adjustment periods. As for the soda
goes, i normally drink water first, but if i go out to eat i do order a
diet soda ,i dont drink alot of it because the carbonation does bother me.
fountain soda is better than the can or bottles. Have the soda , i just
wouldn't make it a daily habit. good luck
