Has anyone had lapband surgery in Ensenada at Obesity Control Center

I'm just beginning to research wls surgery options. It's not covered by my insurance so I need to explore all options and this center"s cost for lapband surgery is not too bad.    — Janice H. (posted on February 2, 2004)

There is a cpt code for lapband 43843 that decribes it as "Gastric restrictive procedure, without gastric bypass, for morbid obesity, other than vertical gastric banding" this is the code that my dr used and my insurance paid with no questions.( another code is 43659, "unlisted laproscopy procedure of stomach".) Do NOT state it is Lapband, only that it is WLS. Maybe you can use one of these and see if they will cover the band. Good luck Mary, Lapband 11-13-03 -38lbs

I had an Open RNY in Ensenada in November with Dr. Aguirre at the CardioMed Hospital for a total cost of $6,900. It is close to the center you're talking about. I preferred the RNY so I didn't have to worry about fills, especially since I had my surgery out of the country. There is a South of the Border forum here and a forum just for Dr. Aguirre's patients if you want to further research.
