Question:
Cigna / Intracorp - Who does what & how do you get an approval??
I got a denial letter from Cigna PPO. They tell me to appeal it with Intracorp. Does anyone know how long this process usually take?? My surgery date is 3 weeks from now & I still am not approved......Can anyone help or make any suggestions?? Please — Evelyn A. (posted on January 6, 2004)

You may want to try the support group at yahoo that specifically deals in
Cigna Insurance issues...lots of good info in the database, appeal letters,
what other folks have done etc. It will depend on WHY Cigna
denied..usually they have some strict criteria based on the NIH consensu
report for 1998. Good luck

What did the denial letter say? Why were you denied? It should tell you,
then people on the board can help you work through the problem if it can be
worked on. Intracorp is a company Cigna pays to handle appeals. Also, Cigna
is notorius for denying the surgery.

Go to this link, http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Cignassqueakywheels/
and join the group. We are a bunch of folks fighting CIGNA for surgery
approval. We help with letters, have files of research and info, shout
encouragemnet, etc. Sue

Check out the insurance section of my profile. The same thing happened to
me. Although I didnt have the time stress that you do! YUCK!!! I feel
for you! Also find one contact person at Cigna to ALWAYS talk to - It was
very helpful to have an advocate on the inside. Good Luck to you and know
that there are tons of people you dont even know who are sending you
positive vibes to help you get through this terribly stressful time. Take
care!
