Question:
Everything I eat is making me froth other than very crunchy food.
I am nearly 2 months postop and have had NO problems until 2 weeks ago. No matter how slow I eat or chew everything makes me froth except crackers or very cruncy foods. Is this normal? I worry that I am not getting proper nutrients. Even very tiny bites of soft foods hurt me and come back up. I am able to sip on water or sugar free koolaid. This makes it very hard to feel normal and I worry that I will lose too much weight at this rate. Please share your comments or advice. Thanks. — debra B. (posted on December 28, 2003)

while the frothies are normal at around this time (anywhere from 4 weeks to
about 12 weeks out) its not normal for you not to keep anything down except
fluids. So I'd suggest calling your doctor and being checked for a
stricture. You are in the prime target area in which they occur and they
are relatively simple to remedy! Good luck!

I had this problem and it got worse. I had a stricture and needed to have
it opened. Don't delay in calling your doc.

I lived on tortilla chips with cheese melted on them...I was kind of the
same way, I could really only handle salty and crunchy...I slowly
introduced some beans with it and ate more than my fair share of my
impromptu nachos for a couple of months....but hey...this was mostly all
that would stay down....my dr. said to eat what sounded good and stayed
down....
