Question:
5'3
I had Lap RNY in July, am 5'3" and have only lost 55 lbs so far. At the beginning the weight came off without even trying. Now even with exercise, increasing protein and water it has slowed down dramatically. I still want to lose another 45 lbs and am really worried, what if this is it?? — ellen L. Well you're certainly not alone. My weightloss has slowed to a crawl lately
with only a 3 lb loss last month. I am a gym rat, and would hate to think
where I'd be without all the exercise! I'll be interested to see what
others have to say. Barb 4/07/03 5'3" 235/143/130

I had lap RNY 10/29/03.Started at 5'3", 240lbs. I, too lost pretty
quickly - 60 lbs - and stopped losing in May. I have been walking 6-7 times
per week, at least an hour each time, started doing weight training the
first of August. I have been up and down with the same 3-4 lbs ever since.
I keep doing what I am supposed to. I recently developed an upper
respiratory infection, so I stopped exercising for about 2 weeks. I am back
to walking and restarted the weights. I hope this gets the loss going
again. I am stuck at the weight I was after my second son was born about 20
years ago. I hope I'm not done!

I'm 5'3"-had Lap rny on june 10 at 289#'s. I'm now at exactly 6 months
& am 207. A loss of 82#s. I have been on several plateaus. Losing only
6 lbs in a month! But I upped my protein to 75-100 grams and 2 months ago
and have lost 22 lbs since then. Not excellent loss but better than
pre-surgery days. I had a goal to lose 75 by Christmas and I have surpassed
that! At my 3 month visit my dr. said my weight loss was great but not
stellar...now, he'd probably say good but not great...! I'm satisfied,
first of all with how i feel and look now compared to 6 months ago.
Also-take your measurements! I lost over 8" in 2 weeks. I am working
out almost daily. I know the discouragement, but stand firm and you will
still be a loser. Just remind yourself how often you tried before and never
lost 55 pounds in 5 months!

I am also 5'3. Check my profile at the bottom for a month by month loss
thru month 21. You are not done losing at all. And yes, it does come off
slower the further out you get. How often are you eating? I found that
eating several small frequent mostly protein based meals helps keep the
metabolism burning those calories. Also are you getting in enough calories
or perhaps too many? Too little and the body will hoard the fat, too many
and you will stop losing. And exercise, only the heart pumping cardio
types of exercise will boost the metabolism to burn those calories
faster...

I started at 5'2" 210 lbs & I have lost 90 lbs in 12 months. The
weight loss has been slowing down as far as the numbers on the scale
getting smaller, but the inches are still coming off.

Hi,
You are doing great I am my WLs on May 12th and am down about 60lbs in 6
months. I started at 274 and am now at 220.
THis is the weight I stayed at most of my life. I have been stuck for the
last 2 months...I feel the same, but people say I look smaller each time
they see me, although I haven't lost much...You are doing great!

I had surgery on July 15th and have lost 59 lbs so far. I started at 235
and am now 176. I have to say except for the first 18 lbs the rest I have
had to fight for. If I do not excersise I do not lose. I still have about
40 lbs to lose and I pray that I can. This month has been VERY hectic and I
haven't done my daily routine. I worry about the 6 month anniversary that
is approaching.
