Funny you mentioned this. When I had surgery I was 6 foot tall and weighed
425 (July 22nd, 2002) and when I went for my years check-up (late) Sept.
4th, 2003 I was measured at 5 foot 10 inches as well. What's up with that?
And my calcium is great so I don't think that's it. Just weird!

Fat pads on your feet is one explanation. Others get taller, because their
spine decompresses. Some of us stay the same (to the 1/4"!) probably
because we do BOTH. Those are only theories, not fact, as far as I know.

Now ya'll have me thinking. I've always been 6' tall but lately, my
husband who is a bit shorter than me, insists that he now feels taller next
to me. OMG!!! am I shrinking!!!! My PCP usually only weighs, does not
measure height. I'm gonna have to insist on a height measurement next time
I go in there. I'm also gonna get out the measuring tape when I get home
today.

I know many people who have lost height due to their feet being smaller and
without the fat that had accumulated. There is also a calcium/bone question
so you might want to have your bone density checked. My experience was the
opposite - I was 5'6.5 at surgery (very crippled up with arthritis) but now
I can stand up straight and I am 5'8"!
