Question:
I don't have insurance... how can I pay for the surgery?
I had bc/bs with my previous job.. but in 2002 they denied me surgery. I have no insurance on my current job. Any suggestions? Was thinking maybe I could buy insurance myself but would need to make sure it would be covered. Was actually considering making a web site.. begging for donations.....I'm that desperate. — Candy A. You can take out a loan and pay for it yourself! That's what I did and I'd
do it again in a heartbeat. It's the best money I've ever spent on myself.
My insurance doesn't cover anything weight loss related so my options were
to beg, borrow, or steal and since two of the three aren't personal,
ethical options I would select, that left borrowing. Good luck to you!

Check out the South of the Bordor on this web site, you can get the WLS for
as little as $10,000. Maybe you have some savings, or a friend or relative
that could loan you that amount, or start saving and maybe take a part-time
job that has different insurance or keep your job that you have now and
work a p/t job to help save money. I do not know what your financial status
is, maybe a loan to pay the $10,000.

Do you have equity in your home? Consider refinancing. You are definately
worth the investment. After all, what good is a home if you are a
miserable, unhealty, depressed person. (I'm not saying that you are - that
was my boat.)I decided my home was for my family and my health and well
being was for my family as well. Thankfully, insurance did end up covering
it, but I was willing to go that route if necessary.

There are loan companies out there that specialize in funding surgeries
which are not covered by insurance like RNY and cosmetic surgeries. Best
wishes-

You might also consider asking other post-ops in your area where they work
and maybe try to get hired on there. Just an idea!

Before you go applying for loans everywhere you need to realize that each
time someone checks your credit it lowers your credit score. If you then
have questionable credit then best to start somwhere where you're more
likely to succeed. If your credit score is borderline and those 3 points
they subtract for each check drop you below their required credit score
then you've just screwed yourself. Something to consider. (You know, in
case you didn't already)

CASH? You can deduct medical expenses if they exceed 7.5% of your AGI.
