Question:
I need to find a doc in St. Louis area that will remove my drain and staples.
I have to self pay so I am going to Mexico to have surgery. I am returning too soon to have my drain and staples removed and I am having trouble finding a doc here to do it. Does anyone know of a wls friendly doc or surgeon that might help me. I know I can go to the ER but I would rather find a doctor that would do it. Mine will not. — beverly S. Ask the surgeon to do a little networking as find a surgeon who will do
this for you. In reality it doesn't need to be a surgeon even. A nurse or
nurse practitioner at a walk-in care clinic should be able to do it. Trust
me it would be cheaper to stay in Mexico than go to the ER at home. I
assume your PCP has said no?

I'm curious, who will you go to for your followup care? Who will you call
if you develop problems down the line? That's the part I don't understand
about Mexico surgery - how about he longterm care? I guess if you can, you
should find someone that can help you manage your care postop, not just
remove the staples/drain. Good luck :)
