Hi there my heart goes out to you I know what a plateau is and it sucks your situation is definitely different please get a second opinion there is something not right it is not your fault and you shouldn't have to work that hard are you doing everything by the book if so you need a second opinion how old are you is my second question the older the slower the loss please seek a gastroscopy and whatever test you can and go to someone else they need to fix this. Don't you give up until you get the right help obviously the problem has not been fixed remember squeaky whell gets the grease.rhonda

I dont have this problem. I do know of one lady in our group that does.... unfortunately neither the original surgery or the revision helped.. Why did this happen? Im not sure anyone knows... It seems to be very rare...

I sympathize with you. I had my surgery 3/28/03, open RNY micro pouch. At the end of four weeks I had lost 30 lbs. most of that in the first two weeks. Then 2lbs. total, the next two weeks and nothing since. I am at the gym for 2 hours, four days aweek, half of that bike or treadmill, eating no sugar and keeping my carbs under 20 a day and nothing! And I feel like the surgery itself is doing nothing. And it is VERY FRUSTRATING! I go to see the doctor and the nutritionist(again) on Friday and I'm hoping they have some answers(and NOT the one that they failed to mention before about the surgery not working no matter what you do). I am 56(just), by the way. Maybe that has something to do with it. I mean I expected it to take longer than it did when I had my stomach stapled 20 years ago, but at least to work. My big question is, if I am absorbing HALF the calories that I am consuming how can I NOT be losing weight? I will pass on any information I get on Friday(useful or not). Somebody said that your body needs to adjust to the weight loss and sometimes you stop losing while that happens. Maybe that is it. I don't know. I just know I am very discouraged. Please let me know if things change for you. I hope they do and soon because I know how hard this is for you now.

Have you tried Atkins? This kick starts my weight loss. If you don't want to do Atkins, at least eliminate ALL white flour and white sugar. This alone may do it.

Chrissy, barring any medical problem (and I would get a 2nd opinion from another WLS surgeon), your profile gives no clues as to what you are eating, how often, how many oz of water you get in a day-every day, how much protein, the # of calories per day-do you count, exercise (I know you said bike but do you get your heart rate elevated for a good 20-30 minutes a day?), are you drinking with or right after meals? It would help us to know the answers to these questions as the answer may lie there. You can E-mail me off line if you'd feel more comfortable that way. Maybe we can find a solution together?
