I think every area and every doctor is different. I'm in NYC and waited
around 6 weeks for my consult. After that, 2 months for surgery. I
happened to be there the day the Dr. got additional OR time and lucked out.
Otherwise it can be more like 3-6 months I think. I hear there is major
waiting time in other cities. There is a wwealth of Drs. in NYC and I
think that's why the wait isn't as long. My Dr. was my first choice,
though, and I couldn't be happier with the results, unless reached goal
NOW!!!!

I sure hope it is sooner than what we have to wait for . In San Antonio ,
Tx. there is a period of three - six months from a seminar we go to before
our consult with surgeon until you have your surgery . There are not but
afew doctors here that do the surgery , so we wait or go out of town .
Good luck on yours .........

Consultation was May 25th, surgery was July 22nd. Not long, but I've read
of others who've waited months to get their consult and then many more
months for the actual surgery. Hope your wait is a short one!

I live in San Antonio, Texas. I called all of the doctors here. The one
group who accepted my insurance had a wait until Nov. 2004. That was just
for the required seminar. I ended up going to BTC in Wylie, Texas. I
called for my consult in early March, got a date for 4/24/03, and now I am
waiting for my insurance to approve me for the second time (This was my
second trip to BTC. I decided to put the surgery off for a year. So I had
to go back for a second consultation.) My doctor told me that they have
been scheduling surgery about 6 weeks from your first consult. Hope this
helps.

Hi, Kimberly----in NJ, with BC/BS as insurance co: consultation date was
9/19/02, approval was 12/15/02, surgery date was 1/27/03. So that's a
little over 4 months....

Kimberly, its different with every doctor/surgeon. Depends on how many
others are using the same hospital facilities (they need to book operating
rooms), how many patients the doc has in front of you, etc, etc. For the
best way to tell, choose a few doctors in your area and ask them...

It depends on the doctor. I called in December, went to seminar on March
11. Called the next morning as soon as office opened, made appointment for
April 7. Insurance approved me on April 25. Surgery scheduled for June 9.
