Question:
Does anyone know where I can buy the shampoo, Nioxcin? (sp?)

I've searched all over the web and no pharmacies have it listed for sale. Also, if anyone has used it, please post your results and if you noticed any difference in hair loss. Thanks, Rozey, open RNY, 10/21/02, -47 lbs.    — Rozey B. (posted on December 30, 2002)

Rosy, I have been using Nioxin since two weeks before my surgery on October 7, 2002. At first, I used it every day. Now I use it every other day. I have had NO hair loss! (yet!) I got the shampoo from my hairdresser. I think it was around $13. I have seen it at the hair salon in Wal-Mart. Check again on the web. When I put in "Nioxin" I came up with a lot of hits. Best of Luck!

Nioxin is available at any beauty supply store such as Trade Secret or Beauty First, and at some salons. Make sure that you get nioxin protectives shampoo and nioxin scalp therapy conditioner. My stylist strongly recommends it. She uses it because she lost more than 50% of her hair after childbirth. They dont sell it at her salon so I know she is not making money by telling me about it. I just started using it 3 weeks ago and I cant tell if it has helped my hair loss yet, but I like the way it makes my hair feel. Good luck!

Rozey I just recently starting "shedding". So I went to my hairdresser to get it cut shorter and she said they had recently received a new product call POWERX Plus. It's a natural base shampoo, conditioner and Energy Nutrient Supplement. $39.95 at Fantastic Sams, It has a 100% gurantee and 30-45 day results with 30-day supply. Well can't hurt so I purchased it. I used it today for the first time. (We'll see)

Hi Rozey, I tried the Nioxin shampoo and conditioner (known as the cleanser and the scalp conditioner). Didn't do a thing for me except stink up my hair and the whole house! I also tried the extra Biotin and the Hair, Skin & Nails formula. I believe it just has to run its course (hair loss). I've had hair loss since almost 3 months out and now I'm nearly 6 months post-op. I do believe it's slightly growing again and the loss is slowing. Hang in there! Also, if you go to the Nioxin website, I believe it's nioxin.com, you can do a search for suppliers in your area. - Anna LAP RNY 7/3/02 -100lbs.

Rozey, I spent $40 on the cleanser and the scalp therapy. I say don't bother...I'm using it because I have it, but my hair is falling out faster than raindrops come down. I agree with one of the other posters, if you're going to lose it, you will and won't be able to stop it til it's ready. I also used Nioxin before surgery. I'm considering changing my name to Kojak.

I know this is probably gonna get me grumped at by the carb police :>) But I've been reading articles about the connection between carbohydrates in the diet and hair loss, and there seems to be a correlation between the severe lack of carbs and ones loosing their hair. I don't know if it would help you or not, but what I've been doing (with doctors blessing) is eating a lot of green veggie carbs along with my protein. My diet consists of mostly protein but I get at least three servings of green carbs in every day. I use cheap (Suave) shampoo and have had very minimal hair loss. This isn't to say I won't experience it (am only 5 months out), but am happy so far and the weight loss has been very good (down 93 pounds)! P.S. if you want to read more about it go to any good search engine (I prefer www.google.com) and enter a search for "low carb hair loss" - it brings up tons of reading. Good luck!

I've been using Nioxin for months now and my hairloss abruptly stopped and I started getting "chicken hair" so I know it worked for me. In fact I still use it. I buy it at my beauty salon. It is expensive though so I get the MEGA bottles. Good luck!
