Question:
Does Anyone Have Dreams About The Surgery While Sleeping?
Did you ever dream about surgery before your surgery? I had one the other night. It was actually good! I remembered that I had Lap instead of Open. (I was told from my last surgeon that he would rather do Open because of past scar tissue from another surgery I had back in Oct. 95'.) Since I have changed surgeons I have heard he is more experienced maybe he can do Lap instead of Open for me but I will just wait and see. I remembered seeing my scars from the surgery. During my dream I remembered, "what am I going to do next?" I was very careful at what I ate. I was thinking I can't eat like I use too. That pretty much covered what I remember. You know how sometimes you dream in bits and pieces and then go to another dream. Please share your dream I would love to hear them, OK? Email me or post. Take care! — Nicole H. Hi
I have had 3 wls dreams and all have been of different forms or ways that
I acted in my dream. I am still pre op so I know how you feel. All 3 of my
dreams had good out comes and I was up walking around and laughing. And in
one of my dreams I kept looking at my scare and was like omg I can't
believe I really did this and the scar was already almost all the way
healed. And most people tell me its a good thing that we are having good
dreams about our up coming wls. The dreams really put my mind at ease about
the whole idea of having WLS and only made me strive to have it done more.
I know alot of people don't believe in dreams and think they don't mean
anything but I think they mean alot and it was a unconsious way of saying
your doing the right thing and to go for it. Hope this helps you, you are
not alone. Good luck on your surgery too. I just got approved Oct 17
woohoo....lol

Everynight before my surgery. The good news is that is was not nearly as
bad as I thought it would be. and the results were a lot better than I
ever dreamed! Five months post op I have gone from a size 24 to a 8. My
goal lize was 14-16. Read my profile for more.

I think dreaming gives us a chance to work out a situation in our minds
with different scenarios and possibilities so we can feel better or be
forewarned about it.

Pre-op, all I did was focus on surgery. I didn't dream about it every
night, but then again, I didn't really remember my dreams every night so
maybe I did. One of the dreams I do remember is that my surgeon was
operating on me while I was awake and he found a baby in there. He was
stretching out my liver and marking it and telling me where he's going to
cut. I woke up looking at my tummy lol. It felt so real. It's so wierd
because in my dreams,I don't see me overweight. I'm always skinny in my
dreams. Now that I am 7 weeks post op, I dream that I am eating junk food
almost every night!!!! I remember thinking in my dream "why isn't this
food bothering me or why aren't I dumping??" And I feel like such a
failure! But when I wake up and realize it's just a dream, I feel relieved,
but it did kinda feel good while it lasted :o)

I didn't have any dreams about the surgery before the surgery but when I
was in the hospitial after surgery, I keep dreaming of eating ice cream and
cheese and then I will get upset because I wasnt supposed to. I also
dreamed that I keep stealing my kids food!! Scary stuff!!

I am 17 days away from my surgery. I dreamed that I had surgery. And
lived which was great. But when I woke up from recovery I got up and drove
75 miles to another town. Now no one could find me and my husband was in
transit to the hospital. Needless to say everyone was upset with me. When
I finally got back to the hospital late that evening, and ask the nurses to
take me to my room, they said that I had breeched my contract and would be
100% responsible for my bill. My doc. would not even see me, said I was
crazy. I finally begged him to take me back and said I would sign an
agreement that if anything went wrong with my aftercare he would not be
liable. I know this is long but I was hoping someone could read between
the lines for me. I have told everyone to take my keys just in case.
I have also dreamed I was trim. Sherri

I just had dream last night about this. I was dreaming that I was in the
hospital and I was on the floor that I was going to be on. I was walking
and I saw my surgeon with the tools that he was going to be using during my
surgery. I saw different types of screws and something maybe like a drain
that he was going to use. He asked me which screws I would like and told
me where he would be putting the drain in me. I woke up pretty surprised
after I had this dream. I have seen my surgeon at the support meetings and
I know he is really nice and I feel comfortable having him perform my
surgery. But, what a weird dream.

I don't dream about the surgery, but I keep dreaming about wearing a very
pretty black dress with a festive red scarf at Christmas and everyone being
amazed at how great I look. When they all ask me how I've lost so much
weight I just say I'm really watching what I eat and smile.
