Question:
Before I lost all my weight I never felt this, but a couple of months ago I was lying
flat on my back and had my hand on my sternum and felt a knot on the left side (where it goes up into a V between the breasts). There isn't one on the right side ... does anyone else have this? — Betty Todd (posted on October 2, 2002)

My doc said that is where most of the work is done for an OPEN RNY
proceedure. It probably is still some swelling or scar tissue. Hope this
sets your mind at ease.

I have not felt that, however I have a friend who is post op and has lost
160 lbs and she has mentioned to me a few times about feeling that knot.

I just read that your surgery was in 2001 so my first response is
incorrect. My husband had hernia surgery a few years ago, open, long scar
down his middle. He kept feeling a knot on the end to the left of his
stetnum also and he was freaking out about it. Well, he went to have an
MRI done on it and it turned out to be cartilage that was
"growing". They said nothing to worry about. He can't keep from
feeling it all the time. It is weird!
