Question:
CORN Chowder okay to eat?
Hi I'm going to my favorite restaraunt tonite and they are famous for their corn chowder (Mimi's Cafe). I would love to order that and a small salad, has anyone had good or bad results eating corn chowder or at this restaraunt? I'm 7 weeks out today! Practicing eating out with a friend! Is corn chowder made with corn? I was told never to eat corn again because
the stomach doesn't digest it well. I don't know if it is true, but I don't
eat corn.

I love corn chowder! I have been eating corn products, corn on the cob,
popcorn etc since about 8 weeks and have had no problems with disgestion.
Actually, corn is great to keep the system "regular". Just
remember to chew!

I'm just short of being 3 months post-op. I tried corn a few days ago for
the first time and had no problem. Just chew carefully and remember that
corn does have carbs!!!

Ohmigosh!! Corn Chowder is my absolute favorite!! I go to Mimi's all the
time & that's what I order. I'm about 3 months out & I eat about
1/2 to 3/4 of the crock of soup...I think the salad will probably be too
much with the corn chowder, but hey, you can always have leftovers!!

Hi I'm the original poster and I just wanted to say thank you. I went out
had a few spoonfuls of the corn chowder and it was yummy and then ate some
turkey off a sandwhich, took rest home for lunch tomorrow! I soooo enjoyed
myself and felt human again. Thanks for the responses!

Chowder is about the texture of mashed potatoes, only obviously more
diluted with water. I have eaten clam chowder fine from about 12 weeks on,
but I did have a bit of a problem with corn chowder earlier than that.
Corn is kind of hard to digest.

This past weekend, I made a Mexican casserole that my hubby loves and threw
all of the ingredients in without thinking. Then of course, I ate it
without thinking! Within an hour, I had horrible stomach pains and felt
very nauseated and sick. I couldn't figure out what I had eaten to bother
me so much and then remembered "corn" in the casserole. I am 8
weeks post-op and don't think I will try corn again any time soon. As far
as you being able to tolerate eating it, everyone is individual. You may
do great! I would say go for it, but be prepared just in case it does not
agree with you!
