Question:
Isn't it dangerous to lose weight at such a rapid speed?
I have read some postings of people dying of massive heart attacks months after surgery. I always thought that losing and gaining weight too quickly is very bad can this cause death? I am nervous and my surgery is coming up on June 13th! — Pilar E. (posted on May 31, 2002)

I was real nervous at first also. But I can honestly say that nefore my
surgery I was a vegitable. I could not walk 100 yards. I was a heart attack
looking to happen :) I was on 3 different blood pressure meds and a few
other pills to boot :P Here I am 1 year later. 120 pounds or so lighter.
Able to run and play with my kids. Some peopel did not think I was still
going to be here at this time I was in such bad shape. Now I know this does
nto answer your question about rapid weight loss. Heck I do not know. But
what I do know is from experiance. I have not felt this good in 20+ years.
And I would not change it for anything. Good luck and God bless you on your
surgery.

If you follow the instructions as to what you can eat and and take the
proper vitamins and minerals, I don't think it is a problem. We have
bloodwork done periodically to be sure everything is in the normal range
and then fix it if it isn't. We are much more likely to die of a heart
attack without the surgery. Five and a half months ago I couldn't walk to
the mailbox without stopping a few times. Now I am 99 lbs. lighter and can
go all day.
