Question:
Company is switching from Cigna (South Florida) to BCBS of Michigan
I haven't even had my first appointment with my surgeon yet (going on 6/11), but I hqve heard from other patients that it's taken them a few for the process until finally getting a surgery date. My company is switching insurance carriers effective August 1st. That doesn't give me much time to be approved and have the surgery. I have so many fears like-- If I'm approved by Cigna and my surgery is not scheduled until after Aug 1st, will the BCBS still cover it? Also, if I'm not yet approved by Aug 1st, will BCBS cover it at all? Have any of you had this "insurance switching dilemma?" Thanks for your help. Mabel — Mabel P. (posted on May 27, 2002)

Nothing to say about switching insurance, but I believe you will find BCBS
of MI to be one of the most WLS friendly companies out there. Good Luck to
you!

I agree with the previous poster that BC/BS of Michigan is one of the best
insurances to have for getting WLS. My wife was approved without any
problems, unfortunately I had Anthem BC/BS of Indiana/Ohio, which is one of
the worst. Good Luck.
