Question:
What type of clothes do I need to use during the 2 weeks after the operation?
Are you able to wear your bra? Do I need to use loose clothes? — Gilmaris M. (posted on May 2, 2002)

I had no trouble wearing my bra after the surgery. I wore mostly dresses
that didn't bind the abdominal area but 2 weeks post-op I went back to work
and wore slacks (with elastic waist) with no problem.

I wore mostly loose dresses or a housecoat most of the time. I did go to a
football game 8 days post op in pants - with my binder on. I didn't have
any trouble wearing a bra although I have heard of some that have had and
ended up wearing a sports bra.

HI, I did not wear a bra for about 5 weeks after surgery. Luckily, I have
lots of thick shirts that did not show anything ( I am small chested to
begin with). Good luck.

I wore a Sports Bra and it was very comfortable. I bought large band-aids
and used one as padding across my scar at the very top where it might rub
on the bra. After about 2 weeks I stopped using the padding and just wore
the bra, and by then it was a little looser so it didn't cut into my soft
skin like it had before. I wore my binder and because it was Dec I wore
sweat pants and a big t-shirt. Being cold outside, sweat pants were ok to
wear to the wal-mart or grocery store. Now that it's getting warm I'd
stick to some comfortable shorts or a light dress so you aren't hot.

I wore the loosest clothing I could find. My slacks were more like sweat
pants and I wore my binder with a t-shirt underneath. Like another poster
said, with spring here and it getting warmer out, you may want to consider
soft, knit shorts or loose summer dresses. And you'll want to wear your
binder for at least two weeks post-op. I couldn't stand to wear a bra for
about the first 2.5 to 3 months post-op. When I did have to wear a bra, it
was the first thing I took off on getting home (except for the shirt or
blouse worn over it, LOL). I would say if you can get by without a bra for
the first couple of weeks, do so!

I just let it all hang out for the first three weeks. Two weeks at home
then first week back I couldn't wear a bra so I just went braless. Very
small office. At home recovery I just wear a over size t-shirt I use for
sleep all the time.
Then went to electic waste things and was always pulling them off my tummy
for awhile. I sit behind a desk so no one could see and my shirt covered it
up too. Just remember the looser the better and then I went to the sports
bras.

I wore soft front hook bras and just left the bottom hooks undone. I found
dresses more comfortable than pants.
