Question:
Severe back pain.
Hi. I'm 4 weeks post-op and experiencing very painful low back pain. Has anyone else experienced this and whatdid you do? I've been taking Flexerall and Tylenol, but nothing seems to help. — Elizabeth R. (posted on April 14, 2002)

If your back pain started on Day 1 post-op, it's most likely positional
back pain from the surgery. (See my profile). I still have some residual
pain, even though I'm 2 months post-op. I'm starting with my chiropractor
again this week. Alternatively, if you've already lost a lot of weight,
sometimes we walk differently after weight loss, and that can trigger pain.
A doctor or chiropractor is probably your best next step.

I had horrible back pain immediately post-op. The first night I had to lay
on my back without being able to move around and I think that it aggravated
my back. Then I was having upper back pain the next 4 weeks and I
attributed it to having to walk around in a hunched over postion. You know
how you are protective of your scar or scars and you don't want to stand up
straight? Until I started walking with a normal posture, I had the pain.
Hope you feel better soon.
