What types of exercise did everyone do at approx 11 weeks post op?

Hi Nikki,
Walk, walk and walk! Have you checked with your doctor as to what types of
exercises he wants you to do? I had an open RNY, so I don't know if that
really makes a difference in the types of exercises you can do. But I know
my surgeon wanted me to walk and walk and walk. Good luck!

Hi Nikki,
At 6 weeks I was walking, and riding an exercise bike for 30 minutes. I
would do 15 minutes take a break and another 15. I had been a member of
Curves for 11 months before my surgery so I was in good shape. Be sure
your doctor approves first. I did try something to early and pulled a
muscle. Lana

Mostly walking, but at 12 weeks, my doctor gave me the ok to do abdominal
exercises (I had an Open RNY). I would imagine you could do them sooner if
you had a lap procedure, but I'm not sure. The insides need time to heal
along with the outside.

Since about 9 weeks post op, I've been walking for 20 minutes on the
treadmill 5 days a week. When I told my surgeon this on Friday, he said
that will help in never gaining any of the weight I've lost back. He said
that WLS patients need to make a constant effort to exercise at least 3
times a week. I guess I'm a little more obsessive then most people!!

Because I have structural damage to my knees from severe osteo-arthritis, I
cannot walk. At 11 weeks I began doing water walking and then progressed to
water aerobics. I also go to a robotics place (Tan and Tone) where machines
help you do the exercising. It has worked great for me; I have lost inches,
increased muscle mass and my knees have improved.

I just walk the bridge Mondays, walk the track Tuesdays, Linedance
Wednesday, nothing on Thursday, and walk the beach on Fridays. I Haven't
been cleared to start abdominal exercizes yet due to a weakened area in the
muscle. So my Doc wants me to let it rest till my 4th month post op. I'm
currently 14 weeks post op.

At 12 weeks, I am going to the gym 6 days a week. Three are 60 minutes on
the treadmill and circuit training (no abs and no lifting over my
shoulders). The other three days I do 60 minutes on the treadmill and 30 on
the bike. I also go to a water aerobics class 4 days a week. The results:
more muscles, toning, and flexibility.
