Question:
Tx State Employee - Health Select
Has anyone had any dealings with Texas State Health Select Insurance? Thanks for your help. — Cindy G. (posted on January 13, 2002)

Don't want to be negative, but you can forget about using the state
insurance. They have a written exclusion and refuse to make any exceptions
whatsoever. I even had one of their supervisors tell me that they realized
surgery would benefit some people, but for the money they would spend on
it, they wouldn't be able to make it back from the employee because most
employees don't stay with the same insurance company that long to make it
worth their (the insurance company's) while. I wound up going through
Texas Rehabilitation Commission. You might give them a try. Good luck!

My how times have changed...for the better. The State of Texas BCBS
HealthSelect does cover WLS these days. There is, however, a $5000 up front
pymt PLUS your coinsurance. Look it up on the ERS website. Have a great
day!
