Question:
What about Hiccups? Do you still get them after the surgery and do they feel the same

Hi. I just posted a question about hiccups in the past day or so. I said
that I've never had the hiccups so much in my life as in the past couple
months since my surgery. It doesn't hurt, but it is embarrassing since I
work with the public and I never know when it's going to it. But from all
the answers I received, I gather it's from eating too quickly. I've got to
s-l-o-w down.

I too get the hiccups much more frequently since the surgery. Although it's
possible it is from eating too fast, I sometimes get them when I haven't
eaten is several hours. They are a bit of nuisance but don't hurt.

I have had the hiccups more since surgery but only 2-3 times in 3 weeks.
The difference I noticed it that before I could get them to stop by holding
my breath and pushing my chin down onto my chest but that doesn't work
anymore. They go away in a few minutes anyway so no biggie.

To me the hiccups represent that my pouch is full. Once I get my first
hiccup, I stop eating. This happens all the time and is a great reminder
that since my pouch is only 12 cc in size, we can only tolerate small
amounts. (60" distal RNY 08/28/01 70 lbs lost forever!!)

i get hiccups when i have waited too long to eat or when my pouch is full
& i dont realize it. they dont hurt & dont last long either.
