Question:
Good tasting protein bars?
I am in search for a good protein bar. I like the Isopure protein shake but was wondering if anyone has tried the Isopure protein bar and if so, which flavors are good and how do they taste? Even other brands that taste good and that even might be chewing and not that chalky nasty taste? I thought I found one that I might like but for some reason now, it's not that good! Thanks! — Amy E. I like Designer Whey bars the best. 30g protein 7g carbs. Also the optimum
nutrition protein diet bar is good with 21g protein and 2.5g carbs.

I have personally found that I like the Balance Gold protein bar the best.
It is almost like a snickers, had 15 grams of protein and I think 23 carbs.
I don't rely on them too much for a source of protein but I like to keep
them on hand so I can grab one as I go out the door and get caught short on
time and need to have a quick fix. Wal-mart is the cheapest place for
them. 97 cents as opposed to 1.25 at Food lion and 1.89 at GNC. I have
learned not to stock up on anything. I but one, try it, and if I like it
then I get more. Good luck....

Designer Whey Chocolate Expresso is the best for me. To me it tastes like
a candy bar, or the closest thing to a candy bar that I should be eating.
Pure Protein also makes a Smores bar I ate that consistently for 2 months
then got sick of it, but it was good while it lasted..

I will swear up and down this is the best (well, for me at least). PowerBar
makes a new protein bar called Protein Plus - Sugar Free (made with
Maltitol, I haven't dumped on the alcohol sugars). It has 16g protein and
is a 1.69oz bar. Fat content: 3.5g, Saturated fat: 2g, Carbs: 19g. They
have two flavors out that I can see, I love the Mocha Almond Fudge but the
Caramel Apple isn't bad either. These are not extremely sweet, just the
right amount for my tastes. I have 1/2 bar and that satisfies me. Hope this
helps in your quest.

I like the Met-Rx Protein Plus bars, in chocolate fudge, chocolate peanut
and one that's like chocolate malt balls (notice a pattern here? I'm an
unreformed chocoholic!) They have about 240 calories but also give you 35
grams of protein, which is close to what my nutritionist says I should be
supplementing. And I LOVE the way they taste. I also have used the Designer
Peanutbetter (I think that's the name of the flavor) which are good too. I
just like the Met-Rx (and you can buy them at BJ's & Costco, I
believe...) Good luck! It's wonderful when you finally find something you
like so I wish you luck on your quest! :-)

Looking at the POSTS I noticed one thing about the Protein bars. do they
all have alot of Carbs?
It seems like they have way too many to be Beneficial to Weight loss.
I thought that too many carbs were bad, causing the body to crave more
carbs. Is this not Correct?

I found Metabolift Bars. I LOVE THEM, but I am having a hard time finding
them now. GNC was carrying them, but have discontinued them. They keep a
few in the Eckerd Stores around here and also am having hard time getting
them to buy more. They are 130 cal; 4.5 g fat; ONLY 1 G CARB; & 12 G
protein. They come in chocloate cake, choc coconut, lemon, and choc mint.
If anybody knows where I can find a ready supply please email me.

Hey folks... there is no need to eat a protein bar with 20-30 carbs... TOO
MANY CARBS! If you take in too many carbs, your body burns the carbs
instead of the fat. The fewer the carbs the better for RNY people. If you
are using bars that have more than 10 carbs in them... you need to find the
section in the store with the low carb bars and find one that tastes good
to you. Body builders and runners need the carb bars for different reasons
than we use them so companies make these bars with various formulations. We
need the sugar free, LOW carb protein bars.

Now I'm going to sound a little loony here but I bought some Carb Solutions
bars at Costco a week or so ago ($15.99 for 12) and I hated them. After
reading all the posts I decided to check my bars out again because I had
forgotten the brand and saw such great feedback for Carb Solutions (I had
to get me some :-) Then I realized - WOW! - I already had these yummy bars!
And they had SIXTY grams of protein! No more crummy shakes for me (I am
pre-op but implementing some of the post-op stuff now). So I tried another
bar - chocolate and peanut butter and guess what? It wasn't too bad! :-)
Before reading the feedback I hated them and now they are okay - what does
THAT say about me? But I passed the psych eval :-) Okay, well, 9 days until
surgery - can you tell??? :-)

Now what the heck made me think these bars had 60 grams of protein? I have
no idea where that came from! I honestly thought I saw it on the label. Now
I need to figure out where I did see something with 60 grams :-) Sorry
about that!
