Question:
Has anyone been behind on this site's loss chart, but still made it?

I found the chart on the BMI page which tells you where you should be in your weightloss in order to reach your goal. I'm only at the point where it tells me I could lose 75% of my excess weight. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy with that. But I don't really want to give up the dream yet. I don't want to get discouraged and sabotage myself. Has anyone not been within the guidelines of the chart but still lost to their ideal weight? Thanks. :)    — Tracy L. (posted on November 20, 2001)

Hi Tracy, just remember that is a "guess" on their part. No one can tell for sure how much you will lose or at what rate. I looked at mine (and I'm behind) but I think I'm still doing great. I am down 83 pounds in three months and I'm STILL behind what that thing says! I'm not sure I would want to lose any faster. Just take care of your body and the weight will come off :) Good luck!

Hi. I just checked out the BMI page. from what I saw, the weight loss changes with the percentage you put in. As far as I am concerned, you are in charge of your destiny. YOu took the leap to a healthier you. If you could do that, you can do anything! Don't let someone elses charts or opinions dictate what you can do... everyone is different. I don't know about you, but I'm gonna go for it... 100%!!! screw the charts! Good luck! :)

The charts will make you crazy. I think it is better not to look at the charts. Not the BMI chart, or the insurance company charts, or the doctors' charts. They are looking for averages, and very few of us seem to be 'average'. I also had to stop weighing myself to stay sane. I was losing much slower, losing much less, then all the average chart people, and if I paid attention to them, I would get very depressed. Instead I concentrated on eating right and exercising....making sure I got my daily protein and water, working my big muscles, and taking my vitamins. I concentrated on how I felt...fit, energetic, strong, healthy, and NOT on what statistics said I should weigh or lose. And guess what? At 16 months post-op, I am still losing at a slow, steady, rate. I am five pounds from the insurance company "goal weight", although I have achieved my personal goal weight. I am a size six. I am extremely healthy and strong and fit. No I didn't lose at the rate that BMI chart says I should have. Do I care? HA!
