Question:
Can someone look at this website for PROTEIN DRINKS, and let me know what you think

I found this website FeedYourSelfSlim.com for protein drinks and liquid vitamins. Can someone look into it and let me know what you think about their protein drinks and liquid vitamins. They sound good to me, but I still don't know much about what to look for, since I am still hoping to have a lap RNY. My first visit is with Dr. Naaman of Houston on 10/23. So, I am just getting prepared if I get approved by my insurance. I really appreciate everyone that takes time to look into this website FeedYourSelfSlim.com and gives me your feedback. Thanks for all of your help. And wish me luck and say a prayer for me, that I get approved. E-mail me if you like at [email protected]    — Nora R. (posted on October 20, 2001)

Ouch! Looks like each shake has 24g of carbs and only 17g of protein. That doesn't sound like a good ratio to me. Personally, I'm using Extreme Pure Pro protein drinks, which has 26g of protein to 4g of carbs. You might want to keep searching for something with that kind of ratio.

I noticed the 32 servings of 17 grams of protein each for $64. Ouch! My surgeon suggests 90-120 grams of protein a day for the first 12-18 months. My God you would go broke at the prices of this protein! I used protein drinks only "one month" as I could'nt afford it any longer than that. I used Pure Extreme Pro ( or Extreme Pure Pro) and I found one place online that was selling it for around $29 or $30 a jar with free shipping on orders over $75. At 52 grams of protein each (I never used more than half a serving at a time for 26 grams) it still cost $120 a month! I think the prices on the site you mentioned are way to high for the "few" grams of protein you get. As for me, I'm only getting around 20-40 grams of protein a day by eating. I'm 5 months post op, and "so far" haven't had any hair loss problems, so I assume I'm doing alright with protein. My BMI is down from 57 to 39! :)

Check out www.vitalady.com. They have many low carb protein drinks and they sell samples of their products so you don't have to buy an entire can before you know what it tastes like. I've ordered from there and have had no problems.

There is a protein drink called 'Pro-Cal 100'. I work for a cardiologist and came across it by a pharmacy rep. It's good, and it cost $1.00 per pack. Comes in Choc; Van. and Strwb. 15 grams of protein; 100 calories and 7 grams of carbs. You can't get it from any drug store and there is no web site for it. YOu can e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll send anyone a sample to try. I just found out after my surgery that our bodies can only take in less than 25 grams of protein at one time(that's for athletes, less for us) and to never try to give it more than that at one time. You'll just pee it out and that's what over works the kidneys. So, 15 grams at one time is all you need. I order it by the case... I'm always glad to split up the cost with anyone. Just e-mail me for a sample... I've lost 70 pounds since my surgery 15 weeks ago. From 270 to 200. 50 pounds to go!!! Take care all. Denise :)

Ultra Protein Shake can by found at www.sportnutrition.com In a 12 fl ounce can it has 170 calories,35g protein (70%)with a total fat of 0.5g <1%> It comes in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and cappuccino. I like the strawberry really cold and the cappuccino nice and warm like coffee. It can be found at GNC also. Hope this helps.
