Question:
Does going on a low fat diet prior to surgery affect postop pain?
Someone on the message board said something about this and I had not heard it before - does anyone know if this is correct? — susan N. (posted on October 15, 2001)

I followed the doctor's "Amazing Liver Shrinking Diet", as I
called it, faithfully for 3 weeks prior to surgery. I lost 16 lbs. on it.
I don't know if it contributed to my no pain after surgery or not. I do
know that the doctor needed my liver to be reduced in size so that he could
get to the stomach and see it. I DID MY PART. I had very little pain
after the procedure and it is now 9 days post op. I still feel good with
little pain. Good luck to you and try your very best to follow all of the
doctor's recommendations.
