Hi there...I'm from Canada, so I can't help you with surgeon's, but I CAN
assure you that yes, you CAN lose just as well with the VBG as with any
other procedure. Don't listen to the stories that you can't. Of course, I
DO watch WHAT I eat and amounts in regards to fats and sugars, but I don't
feel deprived and my new life validates my choices. I work out everyday
doing something physical and I have energy to spare. It's very possible to
outeat your pouch by drinking milkshakes or eating icecream and junkfood,
but the other procedures can also re-gain by doing just that. Go with your
heart and do what's right for you. Don't listen to the negative nellies on
here....I got my share and did my own share of crying because of it. HUGS
to you and much luck! I wish you a successful journey.

Just a note to BJ - not everyone who has RNY or DS has to give themselves
weekly or monthly shots. I don't know of a single person in my support
group that has to get shots and some of us are a year or more out. As far
as VBG vs. other surgeries the only thing I can suggest is that you do your
research on this site and determine which surgery would fit for you and
your eating disorder. For me I need the threat of dumping from my RNY to
keep me from eating sugar as that was my main problem. It's like I have my
own personal food cop inside me to prevent me from eating the wrong things.
Good luck with your decision.

Hi. I dont know about Philly but I went through a place called Images. It
is in Lubbock Tx. and Dr.Hall is the surgeon. One of the reasons I went
through them is that they will fly you there and back as part of the
"package".
I had my VBG done 9 weeks ago and have lost 44lbs! Check them out if you
want at [email protected]
Good luck!

I live in northeast PA and I had a wonderful surgeon in the Scranton area
named Dr. William Peters. I would recommend the trip. It was a long drive
for me but well worth it. I am 5 months post op and have lost 60 lbs. so
far with no regrets. you can find him posted here on this site. Good Luck
