Question:
What kind of pre-op tests are done?
(Dr. Rupp,MN is the surgeon)I have had upper Gi's and endoscopy tests before and really would not like to go through them again. Are there any standard tests that they do before hand. I just want to be ready and in the know. — Jessica J. (posted on July 11, 2001)

Hi Kiara...all doctors are different and I think my doc has me doing every
test possible. Tests I have to have include: Chest x-ray, breathing test,
gallbladder sonogram, upper GI, cardio stress test, psych eval, bloodwork,
and some other tests performed by and endocrinologist. It seems like a
lot, but I value my doctors throughness.

I just completed my preop tests yesterday. I'm having surgery in 6 days.
I had to have an endoscopy over a month ago and yesterday I had to have an
EKG, a chest xray, a breathing test, bloodwork done, BP taken, given a
brief physical, and gave info about my medical history...again.
