Question:
How many infertile women have had wls and then been able to have a baby?
I have pcos and have previously ovulated on my own only after significant weight loss. That is how I had my precious only child. I KNOW I must wait a year or two post-op to even try to get pregnant. I have absolutely no intentions of trying that now! But I would like to have another child eventually. I would love to hear any success stories of infertile women who have had wls and then a baby. — Roxanna (posted on May 22, 2001)

My wife has PCOS too and having a baby is a big reason she is getting WLS.
Surgery will likely cure this.
Be careful being post op and loosing that weight reportedly will make you
feel like a hormone crazed teenager and very fertile,
Frankly I am looking forward to her being this way hehehe :)

I personally know of someone who had the surgery specifically because she
was told that her infertility could only be because she was overweight,
needless to say, she had her surgery last year in Feb. 3 months later she
was suprisingly pregnant before she could loose all of her weight, but with
proper care and nutritionist, she just recently delivered a very healthy
baby. So hope is in the future. God Bless

Well for three years pre-op I had no luck getting pregnant. Last month was
my first month post-op off birth control pill (Doc had advised me to stop
for a few months before trying to get pregnant) and voila! I'm 7 weeks
pregnant. So the only thing I can say is the weight must have had an
affect on my fertility (not that I am slim just yet but by comparison much
smaller than before). Good luck

Oh my god! I hope this is true for everybody. I have been trying for 11
years to get pregnant. My dr. told me that after wls it is almost a
guarentee that I'll get pregnant.. I hope so!

I had WLS in July 2002 and have lost 250#. I have had 2 very healthy
children since my WLS. My husband and I tried for 10 years to get pregnant.
I too have PCOS. I became pregnant with my daughter when I was 17 months
post op and then had a son when my daughter was 15 months old. Just make
sure you have a good OB/GYN who understands WLS and is willing to do extra
bloodwork for you. Good luck.
