Question:
Just out of curiousity.. How many of you out there have NEVER experienced dumping?
I am 5.5 mo.post op. Open proximal RNY. I know this sounds silly, but I am feeling disapponted that I don't dump!I can eat anything without any ill-side affects at all. {Small portions of course} I feel as though I'm not losing weight as fast as I should be because of this.I've only lost 74# which I could not have done w/o the surgery. I can eat the foods that I should'nt, so the temptation to eat it is still there. When I went into surgery, I thought I would never be able to eat those "sinfull" foods again, now I'm disappointed because I can. How do others deal with this? I'm rambling, but hope this makes sense to someone. Thanks, Dani — Dani J. (posted on June 29, 2000)

I think you are doing a great job. In fact you are doing better than me. I
am almost seven months post op and have only lost 75 pounds. I would be
interested to know how much you weighed before the surgery and what your
BMI was. I can eat most things as well. One thing I cannot stomach is beef,
corn and hard things of that nature. The weight is coming off slowly, but
sometimes I get disappointed because I want to be like the people I see in
the photo gallaries that have totally different bodies. I will keep
chugging along and maybe one day I will get to where I want to be. Good
luck and happy losing

I am 3 1/2 mos. post-op and have lost 60lbs.I can eat or drink all of the
things I'm told most people can never have after wls.I have alot of trouble
with meatunless it's cooked in the crock pot and I eat it with
gravy.Personally I'm glad I don't dump,but I never was much of a swet eater
anyways.Good luck!

I am 3 weeks post op (Lap distal)and have not dumped at all.
My friend who is 3.5 mo post-op dumps all the time. But then again she is
a odd eater and has been all her life. I feel really good so far.

I am 4 1/2 months post-op and have never dumped. Sweets were my downfall
before surgery and I've been afraid to eat much - a) in case I dump, and,
b)in case I DON'T dump! I'm afraid that if I find out I don't dump from
sweets I might be tempted to go back to my old habbits. I do admit that I
know that I can eat ONE small cookie (instead of a dozen or more) or 10 M
& M's (instead of several handfuls). But that's the amazing thing to me
- I'm happy with one cookie now!!!
