Question:
I'm 3 months post op. have reached a plateau, but have developed alarge amount of swel

As an asthmatic I am still taking oral steroids, recently I was readmitted to hospital with severe constipation,as a result my fluid intake has been increased from 2-3 litres to 3-4 litres daily.(I've also returned to hospital to have an abcess removed from under the r-en -y wound) Over the past 5 days my feet and now left leg too, have become increasingly odemous,my Gp has prescribed a low grade diuretic to try and help until the surgeon gets back to us. There is no water infection,no sugar problem or high blood pressure...I am exercising, walking and cycling, try and put my feet up when sitting...the nutritionist says to keep on drinking and she will contact the surgeon. There are no obvious irregularities in my diet(very little salt and mostly home made rather than canned). Please has anyone else had this problem,I've been into hospital 3 times in 3 months and would dearly love to have a regular few months at home ,no complications steady weight loss.... Thanks in advance for your support,I can be contacted at [email protected] Lesley Mackwell, England. UK    — Lesley M. (posted on November 18, 1999)
