Perhaps you might try contacting their Chamber of Commerce. They would have a listing and/or brochures of Chamber members and would be able to provide you with city maps and areas of interest, etc. New York State probably has a "tourism" website and you might find the Chamber of Commerce on-line. On one of the other lists, people always mention 1-877-MEDSTAY as a resource for hotels,motels near hospitals. Also, call the hospital public relations office as they often have deals with local places to stay. Good Luck!!

I had my surgery done in Schenectady by Dr. Lirio. My family stayed in the Ramada Inn just down the street. They give discounts to family with people in the hospital. I don't remember how much the room was, but it was somewhere around $40.00/night. They have an indoor pool, too, and my daughter loved that. After all, they can't be at the hospital all the time. Goodmorning, Ellis Hospital, huh ... I'm hoping that Dr. Lirio is your surgeon, he is wonderful! There is a Sheraton in Schenectady that I know of, but I wanted to let you know that Wold Road in Colonie is probably only 15 - 20 minutes from Ellis and your range of choices of hotels / motels will be much better.
