Question:
Has anyone come across some recipes for the blenderized diet after surgery?
I am 2-weeks post op, and just wondering if anyone knows of any good combinations of high-protein shake recipes, or maybe some good blenderized food. I am getting a little frustated, even though I only have 2 more weeks of this. :) Thanks! — Krista C. (posted on September 4, 1999)

Ok, Here are my best recipes and I am still preop but a number of the gals
on teh MGB site enjoy them:)
TUNA, CHICKEN, SALMON SALAD
I take one of the above and use my mini chopper to super chop it, I add
mayo, and pecans or almonds with a little salt and pepper and lemon juice
for zip you can eat it out of the minichopper or use it to mix with rice or
pasta.
This is mostly when you are towards eating solids:
ROASTED GARLIC AND PEPPER POTATOs.
roast garlic and red pepper in a 350 degree oven until browned. peel the
pepper and chop coarsely and squeeze the garlic out of their cloves and add
both to your mini chopper.add peeled and cooked potatos to mix and blend.
Pretty and flavorful.
FRUIT AND TOFU SHAKE
add a cup of frozen berries to a blender
add 1/2 a carton of silken tofu to blender
add on scoop of unflavored designer protein
add some juice til blends smoothly
sweeten to taste with nutrasweet or sweet n low
this could last all day!
CREAM OF CHICKEN SOUP
Use 2 cups of broth and add 1/2 a carton of tofu
and a bit of canned chicken or cook your own to taste and use it.blend tofu
and chicken and then add warmed broth to blender, use a slow speed as
adding hot liquid to a blender can be dangerous so use the slowest speed
and blend til smooth.
OATMEAL WITH PROTEIN
I use slow cook oatmeal and make one serving but I add a scoop of
unflavored designer protein and an another amount of water( if one serving
is 2/3 cup water and 1/3 oatmeal , I would add 1 1/3 cups of water and 1/3
cup oatmeal and the protein)I also add toasted almonds but you will want to
chop them first to make them small. If you do this one day you may get
three days of breakfast from it.
TIPS
use your imagination,
if you like broccoli, cook it chop it and add it to potatos
tofu is blendable and can be used a lot, it also picks up what ever flavor
it is mixed with. ( I happen to hate cubed and cooked tofus texture but
will eat it blended any day!!!!!)
Use tofu( good proteins and flavinoids!) where you would maybe use milk or
yogurt.
Cook your favorite flavors together( peel veggies and fruit first) and then
blend them into a smooth blend. Use chicken or veggie stock intead of water
to get it smooth. If you roast veggies and then chop them you will get
great taste and texure.
I also use tofu in the place of some milk in pudding and also in Jello( it
tastes like those jello salads with whipped cream, I also usually add a bit
of vanilla too)Instead of two cups of milk I use one of milk and one of
tofu. I like the silken soft for use in pudding but use the firm with jello
due to it sets up better.
Now how many times have you yuckkkked when I said tofu????
Try it and then we can talk LOL It really is not that bad!! :) and hugs
