Question:
I had a TT on Aug. 23rd of this year and now have developed
a mass above my pelvic area. It is the size of a small orange, its not a hernia because my PCP checked it for me. She is not sure what it is. It is pushing on my bladder and gives me the sensation i have to urinate. It is getting larger and more bothersome. It protrudes out. I was hoping its not an abcess. Any info or related situations that someone could share would be great. I have an appointment Thursday with my surgeon to look at this. He is not very personable however and is quick to shrug things off. Thanks — roxxyblue72 (posted on October 26, 2004)

could be a blood pocket. How long after you got your drains out did it
'appear'.. I assume your still under your PS care - if it is he'll drain it
off with a needle; and if that doesnt work; re-insert your drain.

It might well be a collection of fluid. I had this happen near my elbow
after brachioplasty. The protrusion was quite large. I had to have it
aspirated several times, and wrap the arm to keep fluid from accumulating,
and take antibiotics to prevent infection.

Yeah, could be a seroma. Call your surgeon and take a look. I had my
lower body lift on 8/20/04 and still have a seroma draining from my back.
Even if you don't care for your surgeon, you need to see him about this!
Good luck to you!!!

Hi Roxanne, I just had a hernia repair 2 1/2 weeks ago and on the right
side its the same size as you discribe and I was told it was a Blood
pocket, its swelled looking and also the size of a orange he told me to
keep a heating pad on it (the surgeon) and if it gets uncomfy to let him
know and he will have to drain it, this he said sometimes comes after
surgerys and of course I seem to be one of thoses persons that everything
happens to find me!! :(. He said in due time they disolve but sometimes can
take up to a year, I was like OMG. But I will live and the heating pad
seems to be easy up some of the pain, it didnt hurt the first 2 weeks now
Ihave a little pain, thats when he said to use the heating pad, and if pain
to go away I have to go back in his office and he will drain it he said to
releif some of the pain and discomfort, well Good Luck. Christine

Have you gone to your GYN? It could be a fibroid. Those babys are evil
and can grow to the size of a cantaloupe and still be inside our body.
Make an appointment to see your gyn now.

Yep...probably a blood or fluid collection. An ultrasound will decide the
issue quickly and painlessly. I keep a machine in my office just for this
purpose. May need to be drained as either are at risk for infection.
